About Calle Culture

Rooted in the Islands, Driven by Heart

My story begins in the vibrant heart of St. Croix, USVI, where I was born and raised surrounded by the rhythm of the waves and the warmth of a Spanish-speaking household.

My heritage is a beautiful blend of the islands—with ancestors from Puerto Rico and Culebra, I grew up navigating the world in Spanglish. This culture isn’t just how I speak; it’s how I see the world. It’s a mix of tradition and modern life, of Caribbean resilience and soulful expression.

A Journey of Service and Understanding

Before launching this shop, my path was defined by a commitment to people and country:

  • The Marines: I served for 4 years, gaining the discipline and integrity that I pour into every aspect of this business.

  • The Mission: My passion for understanding community led me to earn a Bachelor’s in Sociology and a Master’s in Social Work.

I’ve spent my life studying how we connect, how we heal, and how we celebrate our identities. This shop is an extension of that mission—a way to promote and preserve the Spanglish culture that shaped me.

Why This Matters

This isn't just a business; it's personal. With 50% of my family still living in St. Croix and Puerto Rico, my heart remains firmly planted in the islands. When you support this store, you aren’t just buying a product—you’re honoring a legacy of island heritage and the beautiful "in-between" of Spanglish life.

Thank you for being part of the Familia.

Love you, mean it,

Gisela
